We are finishing up our Cristmas party decorating this weekend - this year for many of our clients we used our beautiful moravian stars. We suspended several from trees, tents, as well as just a single star on the front porch. We have them in glass and for the christmas season, large white plastic ones that seem to glow when lit.

The moravian star has an incredibly rich history. Originating in the 1850's, moravian translates as "the lords watch". It is typically hung the first Sunday of Advent and remains until Epiphany, January 6th.

I have used these stars for our own personal Christmas decorating every year since we bought our home - we have a huge oak tree and they are magic as they dance along the branches. Every year at this time we find people at all hours sitting in their cars at the end of our driveway enjoying the view!

Yesterday we had 70 degree weather and I grabbed Bronte ,one of our great
danes and we headed to the beach. While there I met Carolyn. She was
carefully writing in the sand a date and names and she had a camera in
her hands. She has a business called Beach Write where she will write a
personal message in the sand, and send you a photo of the image. I thought
"what a great idea for save the date postcards " and Carolyn informed me
that she indeed has done many save the dates.
Her web address is www.beachwrite.com  I so enjoyed talking with her-she
had a beautiful large conch shell with her that she sometimes uses in
photos-her mother found the shell on this same beach over 30 years ago.
As I walked on I could'nt help but think about how the sea draws us in
,we always come back to it.. A mother finds a beautiful shell and 30
years later a daughter holding the same shell on the same beach.

We are tying up loose ends from our fundraiser, the Wilmington Fur Ball. What a really terrific event. We raised lots of money for abused and neglected animals and everyone had a blast.
Now on to Christmas - my absolute favorite time of year. This year we are going a little vintage with our decor. Lots of flocked bottle brush Christmas trees, paper mache' Santa mask, and we will use our beautiful bird house chapels.
We love to incorporate them in our weddings also.
